Making Interlibrary Borrowing Easier and Faster

Some exciting changes are taking place at your local library! The Garnet A. Wilson Public Library of Pike County is converting our current TLC circulation system to the SEO (Serving Every Ohioan) system, which will enable us to better serve our patrons in a more efficient and effective manner.

The SEO Library Center, located in Caldwell, supports a consortium of 77 library systems at 176 physical locations throughout 39 counties across Ohio, using the OPLIN network.

The power of this cosortium resides in resource sharing among cosortia members, allowing small and rural library systems to have access to millions of items for their patrons, free of charge.

SEO Library Center houses, maintains, and supports a centralized share catalog database that includes over 6.7 million items with a patron database of 700,000+ borrowers.

"It is very possible with this new system that a patron can request a book one day and receive it the very next day," said Nick Slone, Adult Services Librarian. "We will have access to every item that circulates within the consortium, which puts literally millions of items at the patrons' fingertips. Patrons can browse the catalog at the library or in the convenience of their homes and have access to all the different library collections that SEO supports."

In undergoing the conversion, all branches of the library will be closed Wednesday and Thursday, August 3rd and August 4th, so that staff may participate in training. All branches will re-open at their regularly scheduled times on Friday, August 5th.

During the conversion and learning stages, bumps in the road are bound to pop up. The library staff would appreciate your patience as they familiarize themselves with the new system and ultimately make it possible to get items faster!
