Library Closed Temporarily for Staff Meeting December 10

Due to a staff meeting, the Waverly library will be closed on Wednesday, December 10, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. We will open regularly at 9 a.m., close at 11:30 a.m., and reopen at 2 p.m. All branch locations will be closed in the morning and will open at 2 p.m.

Food for Fines December 15-20

Help us stock the local food pantry in a time of great need, and “pay” off your library fines in the process!

During the week of December 15-20, each nonperishable food item you donate will allow $1 of your library card fees to be waived.  Currently, the food pantry is in great need of peanut butter and beans, which are high-protein food items.  Just one of these special items - one jar of peanut butter, or one bag of beans - will clear $5 in library fines!

For example, if you owe $10 in library fines, the following would clear your fines:
  • 10 regular nonperishable food items or
  • 1 bag of beans or 1 jar of peanut butter and 5 regular nonperishable items or
  • 2 bags of beans or jars of peanut butter
All donations will benefit the food pantry at the Pike County Outreach Council.  Fines cannot be cleared for lost or damaged library materials.  The library reserves the right to reject donated items that are damaged, dented, expired, etc.

Donate "Food for Fines" in Celebration of National Library Week April 13-19

Celebrate National Library Week and help the local food pantry from April 13 – 19 by “paying” your library fines with nonperishable food items at any branch of the Garnet A. Wilson Public Library!

During National Library Week, you can bring in “Food for Fines,” and one nonperishable food item will allow $5 of your library card fees to be waived.  For example, if you owe $12.95 in library fines, a donation of three nonperishable food items will clear your record.

All donations will benefit the food pantry at the Pike County Outreach Council.  The library reserves the right to reject donated items that are damaged, dented, expired, etc.
