Downloading Free Magazines and Audio Books!

Your library has two new exciting digital services to offer this year! 

The first is called Zinio and provides the opportunity to download and view many of your favorite magazines from the the comfort of your home. You can choose to read on your computer's browser or on your favorite smart device, such as the iPad or Kindle Fire.

The second new digital service is called OneClickDigital and provides access to a wide variety of classic books in audio format. Meet Ohio Author Karisa Delay, Thurs., Aug. 8th, 6 - 7:30 pm

Ohio author, Karisa Delay, will be at the Waverly Library on Thursday, August 8th, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Her new book is called "The Crystal Gate." 



About the Book

A novel of intrigue and paranormal discovery, as good and evil wait for the balance to shift.

Alexis Zen, a brilliant physicist with a troubled past, wants only to recreate ancient tech to understand our past, but is instead tasked with building top-secret devices for the U.S. military. About the Author

Author, Karisa Delay, has always been fascinated with how the perception of God, evolution, and science twist reality, and has wrote Crystal Gate with this theme. She and her husband, Dillion, have four daughters and live in Ohio.

Read for the Gold! - Sat., Aug. 17, 2103

The library's annual Read for the Gold! fundraiser race will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013. 

The 5K Run and 3K Walk will be held rain or shine in Bristol Village, beginning at the Activity Center, located at 625 5th Street, Waverly. Registration and check-in begin at 7:30 a.m., with the race beginning promptly at 8:30 a.m. 

Everyone is encouraged to participate by entering, or by coming down and cheering on those will be competing!

The course is flat and shady through beautiful Bristol Village. Participants compete on a combination asphalt and concrete course.

The mission of the library is to Educate. Inspire. Enjoy. And this race is a fun way to raise funds to continue our endeavor of promoting literacy within our community. You can help support our library by registering for our race!

Summer Reading 2013

Guidelines for the Summer Reading Challenge and a list of prizes follows:

For all age groups, the books read must be library books, checked out between June 3 and June 27, and should be at the patron's reading level.

Children (Up to age 12): Must read for 15 hours to complete the Summer Reading Challenge.
  • All children who sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge will receive a Taco Bell gift certificate! 
  • All children who complete the challenge will receive free passes to the Pike County YMCA, Long's Retreat, and the Pike County Swim Club! 
  • All children who complete the challenge will be entered into a drawing for:
    • R2D2 Remote-Controlled Inflatable Robot! 
    • Break Your Own Geode Kit!
    • Piggy Bank Prize Pack!
Young Adults (Age 13-17): Must read 800 pages to complete the Summer Reading Challenge.
  • All young adults who sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge receive a free Book Lovers' Tote Bag! 
  • All young adults who complete the challenge will receive free passes to the Pike County YMCA, Long's Retreat, and the Pike County Swim Club! 
  • All young adults who complete the challenge will be entered into a drawing for:
    • John Green Limited Edition, Autographed, Hardcopy Boxed Set of Four Award-Winning Books!
    • Harry Potter Complete 8-Movie DVD Collection!
Adults (Age 18+): Must read 5 books to complete Summer Reading Challenge.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The Pike County Public Libraries are happy to announce that they have eliminated children's fines. No fines will incur against late materials borrowed by children. However, charges and penalties still apply for lost or damaged items.

Free lunch , made possible by the Summer Feeding Program, will be available daily from June 10 - August 9, from 12:15 to 1 p.m. at all branches of the library. Anyone under the age of 18 is eligible for a free lunch.

Renew Kroger Community Rewards in April

Remember that if you're enrolled in the Kroger Community Rewards Program, you must re-enroll after April 1st to continue earning rewards during the coming year. With this program, a percentage of the money you spend at Kroger will go to help the library.

To re-enroll, simply visit www.krogercommunityrewards.com, and sign in. Search for the library by typing "garnet" into the search box. Select the library and click "Save."

To enroll for the first time, visit www.krogercommunityrewards.com, scroll down to "Columbus, OH," and click "enroll now."

Food for Fines - Feb. 19 - 23

Help the Pike County Outreach Council food pantry the week of February 19 - 23 by "paying" your library fines with nonperishable food items at any branch of the Garnet A. Wilson Public Library. During Food for Fines Week, simply bring in one nonperishable food item for up to $5 in library card fees, and your fees will will be waived. 

For example, if a patron owes $12.95 in fines, a donation of three nonperishable items will clear their record. In addition, any fess accrued on items returned late during that week will be removed when you bring in food items for the pantry. At this time, the pantry is in special need of dry beans, s a bag of dry beans will allow $7 to be waived.

The library reserves the right to reject donated items that are damaged, dented, expired, etc.
