Storytime with Rep. Rosenberger - Fri., July 27

State Representative Cliff Rosenberger will be reading for a special story time this Friday, July 27th, at 10:30 am at the main library in Waverly!

5K Fundraiser Race - Sat., Aug. 18

The Friends of the Pike County Public Libraries is sponsoring the annual Read for the GOLD fundraiser race, which will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2012. The 5K Run and 3K Walk will be held rain or shine in Bristol Village, beginning at the Activity Center, located at 625 5th Street, Waverly. 

Registration and check-in begin at 7:30 am, with the race beginning promptly at 8:30 am. The registration fee is $10 if registered on or before August 11th, $15 if registered after August 11th. Participants will receive a t-shirt commemorating the event.

Race registration sheets maybe be picked up at the Waverly, Piketon, Beaver, and Western library branches and at the Bristol Village Activity Center. You may also download a form by clicking here. You can also register the day of the race. 

Everyone is encouraged to participate by entering, or by coming down and cheering on those who will be competing!

The course is flat and shady through beautiful Bristol Village. Participants compete on a combination asphalt and concrete course.

The mission of the library is "Educate. Inspire. Enjoy." This race is a fun way to raise funds to continue our endeavor of promoting literacy within our community. You can help support our library by registering for our race!

Closed for Independence Day

All branches of the library will be closing at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, July 3rd, at 5:00 pm and will remain closed on Wednesday, July 4th, in observance of Independence Day.

All branches will reopen at regular hours on Thursday.

Summer Reading 2012

This year's Summer Reading Program at the Pike County Public Libraries is sure to stimulate the imagination! The Friends of the Pike County Public Libraries have again partnered with local recreational attractions to offer rewards to all participating readers. All branches of the Garnet A. Wilson Public Library of Pike County will hold Summer Reading Programs for children, teens, and adults.

This year's children's theme is "Dream Big, Read!" (for children in pre-school through 8th grade). The teen theme is "Own the Night" (for young adults ages 13 to 17). The adult theme is "Between the Covers" (for ages 18 and older).

The Summer Reading Program will run eight weeks, beginning Monday, June 4th and ending Saturday, July 28th. Thanks to the event's gracious sponsors, readers who complete the program will receive free passes to the Pike County YMCA, the Pike County Swim Club, and Long's Retreat Family Resort! During the Summer Reading Program, the libraries will be visited by exotic animals, the OSU Extension office, and many others. Remember, the library where you register is where you must record the books you've read. The Western Branch Library will be closed on Saturday, March 31st.

Spring Book Sale - Fri. April 27th and Sat. April 28th

This year's Spring Book Sale will be held on Friday, April 27th and Saturday, April 28th from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm!

There will be a pre-sale for Friends of the Library members only on Thursday, April 26th from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

The sale will be held downstairs, in the community meeting room of the main library in Waverly.

All branches of the library will be closed on Monday, February 20th, in observance of President's Day.

Van Rob Job Fair

Van Rob of Waverly is hosting a Job Fair at the plant this Saturday, February 4th. They are looking for Press Operators, Forklift Operators, Team Leaders, and Industrial Electricians.

They will be accepting resumes/applications and doing short spot interviews on selected candidates.

The Job Fair will be at the plant from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, February 4th. Van Rob is located at 611 West Second Street, Waverly, OH.

Book Club 2012

Update: The dates and times for the remaining meetings have been moved to Wednesday evenings, in order to allow those who work during the day an opportunity to join.


The library's book club will meet on the last Wednesday of the month at 6:30 pm, every month but November and December. Anyone is welcome, but you must notify Nick Slone, public services coordinator at the library, a month in advance if you need a copy of the upcoming book.
