All branches of the library will close at 3:00 pm on Saturday, December 31 and will remain closed Monday, January 2. Have a safe and Happy New Year!

Join us at 11:45 am on January 4, 2012, when Will Henderson will be speaking on "Dealing with Periods of Crisis." Will Henderson, Certified Estate Planner will be discussing some of the more difficult life experiences we and our family members face as we age.
Please bring your spouse or dearest friends and come prepared to debunk some of the myths and misunderstandings. Through proper education we can remove some of th efear experienced by many Senior Citizens.

Overdue Fines Reduced
Fines have been reduced for all overdue items at the library! DVD fines have been lowered from $2.00/day to $1.00/day, and everything else has been lowered from $.20/day to $.10/day!

The Business Development Program, a division of the Community Action Committee of Pike County, will be presenting the program this month.
The Buinsess Development Program of the Community Action Committee of Pike County offers technical and financial assistance that can enhance the efforts of small and emerging business owners in Pike, Jackson, Ross, and Scioto Counties.
Since 1994, the Business Development Program has been providing business development services, including one-on-one business counseling, business start-up classroom training, financial assistance and various forms of technical assistance, including computer and developmental workshops.
The program is free to the public, and lunch is provided. Seating is limited, so please RSVP by calling the library at 740-947-4921.

Quilt Show - Fri., Nov. 18 and Sat., Nov. 19
In celebration of the Jingle Bell Festival, a Quilt Show will be held at the Main Library on Friday, November 18 and Saturday, November 19!
If you would like to contribute a quilt to the show, simply bring your quilt to the Waverly Library, 207 N. Market Street, between Monday, November 14 and Thursday, November 17. Quilts will not be accepted for the show after 3:00 pm on Thursday. Please bring only homemade quilts, not store-bought. Entry forms are available at the front desk!

B&W Plant Manager to Speak at Library Luncheon - Wed. Nov. 2nd
Ken Collier, plant manager for B&W Conversion Services (BWCS) at Piketon, will be the speaker on Wednesday, November 2, at the Garnet A. Wilson Public Library in Waverly. The meeting begins at 11:45 a.m. and is sponsored by Pleasant Hill Manor. The meeting is open to the public and lunch is free to all who attend.
Mr. Collier will present progress and status of the depleted uranium hexafluoride facility in Piketon. He will also talk about the company's community involvement activities and their initiatives to encourage local students to pursue degrees in engineering (mechanical and chemical), quality and software engineering, and logistics management.
Collier directs plant start-up, conversion operations, maintenance, waste management and disposition, cylinder management, and hydrogen fluoride recovery. In prior Babcock and Wilcox assignments, Collier managed highly enriched uranium operations at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, TN. His 30 years of experience includes managing uranium start up operations and leading production of enriched uranium special processing for three Hazard Category 2 nuclear facilities.
As a strong proponent of community involvement, Colier has served as a B&W loaned executive for the Anderson County, Tennessee United Way. He is an avid sports fan and has supported the University of Tennessee's athletic department customer relations program, where he is usher supervisor at men's and women's sports events.
Collier holds degrees in organization management and electrical and electronics technology, and has earned multiple certifications from the University of Tennessee, while working toward his MBA.
B&W Conversion Services is a Limited Liability Corporation formed by Babcock and Wilcox (prinicipal and majority owner), and URS Energy & Construction (supporting partner), solely to operate the depleted uranium hexafluoride conversion facilities in Piketon, OH and Paducah, KY. BWCS is headquartered in Lexington, KY.
The BWCS Piketon plant will convert 250,000 metric tons of DUF6 over 18 years, and will employ 184 to operate.

Patrons can now download popular and classic eBooks to a Kindle device or any mobile device running the free Kindle app, such as iPhone, iPad, Android, and more.
